ICYMI: Here’s my intro post as to what I’m doing (MealPal) and why I’m doing it (to eat good food in New York City without spending a fortune).
Day 1: Bill’s Bar & Burger
Address: 85 West St., New York, NY 10006
Day of the week: Friday
Order: Bill’s Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken
Value: $16.50 ($11.50 for the salad + $5 extra for the protein)

The Bill’s Chopped Salad was fresh and delicious, packed with a variety of ingredients that I like and would order on a normal basis. Essentially, it was a Greek salad (feta and olives), but the added grilled chicken was a pro, and the light dressing, a white balsamic, added just a touch of sweetness, giving the salad its own distinct flavor.

Overall, I’d say this MealPal trip was a success. My only beef (or rather, chicken) was that Bill’s was a tad far from my workplace and from the “heart” of the Financial District. The wait time was a bit long, seemingly because Bill’s is a sit-down restaurant in a Marriott on West Street. I assume that means the salad was made when I arrived, rather than being ready for pickup during my pickup time frame (12:30-12:45 p.m.). So while I had to wait a few extra minutes, the meal was likely made fresh, rather than a couple hours before, like I hear is the case for some orders on MealPal. For these reasons (wait time and distance), it would be better to order Bill’s on a slow day at work. Though with MealPal, you’ve got to order the day before or the morning of, before 9:30 a.m., so that trumps that idea.
