Last week, a good friend challenged me to something interesting and terrifying. She asked if I could go 24 hours without listening to music and if yes, she would buy me a coffee. You probably realize by now that I’m addicted, so this was a challenge I wasn’t willing to accept but did anyway.

I went insane.
Think about all of the things we do on a daily basis where music is (or could be) involved. Switching on your iTunes or the radio while getting ready in the morning. Playing music from your radio shower (which, thanks Devin Cooney, was the best Christmas gift I got this year). Getting in the car and driving to work. Turning on your favorite Spotify radio station to get through those 8 straight hours of the workday. Listening to the radio on the way home from work.
Re-opening my iTunes when I’m back and getting ready for a night out. Prepping the pregame playlist for my housemates. Listening to music at the bar. Singing kareoke.
Needless to say, I lost the challenge. After 4 hours. So I bought my own damn coffee.
